Merrivale Digestate Quality Protocol & PAS110 Support
Merrivale Energy Ltd Anaerobic Digestion facility was commissioned in 2015, exporting 500kWe to a neighbouring industrial user and utilising the heat from the CHP and the 190kWth boiler in a dryer used to dry woodchip and digestate fibre.
In 2016 Merrivale Energy Ltd commissioned Marches Biogas Ltd to design, install, build and commission a pasteurisation unit with its own dedicated 190KWth biogas boiler and heating system adjacent to the existing digester.
Once the installation was completed and fully commissioned, Marches Biogas Ltd then assisted Merrivale Energy Ltd with the process of applying for the digestate Quality Protocol and PAS110. The accreditation process was completed successfully with certification granted in July 2017.
‘The installation of the pasteurisation unit has allowed us to become accredited as producing digestate that is compliant with the Quality Protocol and PAS110 which allows us to market the digestate as a product. Marches Biogas guided us smoothly through the accreditation and certification process.’
